The Rebel Writers of Bucks County is a group of writers which meets regularly to edit and critique each others work. The Rebel Writers have been extraordinarily successful; virtually all of the members have published works which is extraordinary in this day and age. They were featured in the February 2008 issue of Writers Digest.
Bios
Damian McNicholl (http://damianm.blogspot.com) was born and educated in Northern Ireland. His first novel, A SON CALLED GABRIEL, (CDS Books) is an American Booksellers Association Book Sense Pick and was a finalist in the Lambda Literary Awards and independent publishers ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. It is also published in the UK by Legend Press, which will publish his second novel TWISTED AGENDAS IN 2011. He has appeared on CBS, WYBE Public Television, NPR, Associated Press’s syndicated BETWEEN THE LINES with Diana Jordan, WBAI/Pacifica, Irish Radio Network’s Adrian Flannelly Show and been interviewed by MSNBC.com and others about his work. He is currently at work on the screenplay of A SON CALLED GABRIEL and another novel.
Russ Allen has been a fulltime, professional writer and editor for more than 25 years, the last 20 of those as a freelance writer. He runs his own copywriting and communications-projects practice, The Writers Studio (www.writersstudio.com), which serves a variety of trade press, educational, and marketing arenas. In 2004, Russ founded the Advanced Novel Writing Group, through The Writers Room/Writers Corner of Bucks County. Russ led this critique group of experienced writers through 2009, at which point he joined the Rebel Writers. Under the pen name Rusty Allen, he has completed a variety of book-length fiction manuscripts, several of which are historic novels, including his recently completed book Desert Soup: From Iraq with Love.
C. G. (Chris) Bauer, novelist and award-winning short story writer is the author of SCARS ON THE FACE OF GOD, Drollerie Press, a 2010 EPIC Awards finalist in horror. John Wirebach is completing a novel about the US Army in Paris in 1944. When he’s not writing, he’s an adjunct instructor at Bucks County Community College. He lives in Levittown, PA.
Dave Jarret writes with compassion and wit about misfits struggling to survive in a vividly described world whether they exist in the present or were undocumented participants in known historical events. He has completed one novel in the historical fiction genre entitled, “Coryell’s Ferry.” He is currently working on a series of short stories.
Marie Lamba (www.marielamba.com) is author of the humorous young adult novel What I Meant… (Random House Books for Young Readers, 2007), which Publisher’s Weekly has dubbed “an impressive debut.” She also recently completed two more YA Novels: Over My Head, and Drawn. Marie is the author of more than 100 articles, including features in Garden Design and Writer’s Digest, and has an essay in the anthology Call Me Okaasan: Adventures in Multicultural Mothering.
